Help! I´ve been robbed!

Post by :FI:Genosse » Wed Jul 11, 2007 12:38 pm

Folks!

Some of you might remember my old red VW van also called the Big Red P(orn)-Bus by my German friends (darkened windows seem to wing the imagination of some peeps!), some of you don´t even know it ...

This air-cooled van is still with its 18 years and almost ran 220000 km (it´s not much, uh?) a very reliable vehicle that offered us a lot of space (5 peeps) and took us from here to there and back quite often. It took even Macca and me to Gareth´s place and Conrad and his family back to Holland ...

Apparently our new government thought it´d be a very good idea to take the leadership in the CO2-reduction within the EU ... therefore they raised the taxes for carbon-unfiltered cars depending on their weights up to almost 400% of the original taxes. Cars refitted with carbon filters would have taxed then with less fees ...

More over the tax offices have been told by the government to date the first day of tax raising back to January 1st, 2006 ... so we Germans have to pay back the missing tax depts back to this date.

The first letter of my county´s tax office informed me to pay back my dues of 1600 Euros until July 30th, 2007!!!! My better half and me checked this document and found a mistake in it: the authorities obviously mistaken the max weight of the van (2.8 tons) with the actual power of the engine (1570 ccm). One telephone call at the tax office and the new official tax letter was on its way to us ...

Yesterday we received the long awaited letter yet its content was still disappointing: at least 1300 Euros still to pay. After checking this one we found again another mistake: this time the fact of having a built-in catalytic converter wasn´t considered by the lovely peeps at the tax office.

I assume you see where this will bring us again, don´t you!?

Anyway, ... we´ll be less charged for the van hopefully but in the end it means we can´t hold it anymore since there´re still running costs like insurances and repairs to be considered ...

Nonetheless I still feel a bit robbed ...

PS: my van will be sold tomorrow ... an era has passed by then ...
Nunc est bibendum - Let's start to drink!

Cool van Gen! Sorry for your loss.

I wonder how many other interesting or exotic vehicles will be scrapped because the owners can't afford this new carbon tax?

Hey, if you want to get rid of it I'll buy it. We like choking on toxic fumes down here. Besides a p**n van will do nicely in my next film.

Sorry to hear that Frank :(

rather ironically the methane produced by cows contributes more to global warming than your van.....perhaps if the EU just told all contries to slaughter all livestock........ ;)

More screwed up beurocratic logic. Just put the tax on the fuel used not the vehicle, you might only use it once a week.

politicians will screw you any way they can

Arise ye workers from your slumbers
Arise ye prisoners of want
For reason in revolt now thunders
And at last ends the age of cant.
Away with all your superstitions
Servile masses arise with us
We'll change henceforth the old tradition
And win back Frank's dear porny bus!

I think it's more the methane produced by alGore..........

Funny thing about the global warming thing. Yes it is getting warmer. Yes it has happened many times in the past w/o all the BS hysteria involved about "greenhouse gassing" from fossil fuels. THE guy that originally postulated the theory has since said "I WAS WRONG!" THE pundits think otherwise and accuse him of being "bought off" by BIG OIL. ANything is possible I suppose.

Everything I've come up with OUTSIDE of the "popular scenario" suggests that it is that EVIL SUN and its' sunspot cycles that are making us heat up.

Another note of interest is that the North pole is relocating toward Siberia at the current rate of about 25 miles a year. However this doesn't seem to be of interest to the eco-narzis. I'm not an ecological-scientist by any stretch of the imagination, however, I can't help but think that a major shift in the magnetosphere and magnetic poles could and will quite possibly cause major upheavals in the climate.

And poor Frank still loses the neat ol' bus. :(

I am sorry, but "back taxes"! WTF? I thought this kind of thing only happens in the US. And how on earth could they expect you to pay that kinda money within 3 weeks!

For once I totally agree with Unka Willie.

Al Gore sucks! The guy just gives me the creeps and I'm not even an American. But most of all it's his wife Tipper. The day she went and started messing with my faveorite Metal bands with her crusade in placing advisory 'Explicit Lyrics' labels (even placing an "Explicit Lyrics' label on a Frank Zapper 'INSTRUMENTAL' album  )

As for the stinky cows I'll be more than willing to get rid of them. The only problem is that they are revered by the Hindu majority in the village. So before I get skinned alive and sacrificed to the Croc God I have to endure their stinky presence. God, somebody help me!

The imposition of back taxes is pretty severe one has to say....

...however it is not just emissions in terms of global warming.

Older diesels emit a lot of "particulates" i.e. soot like particles rather than gases. These are very carciogenic and contribute a lot to localised pollution levels.

Gen is a polluter ;)
