Silent Hunter 4
Silent Hunter 4
I had in my hands a copy of Supreme Commander & Silent Hunter 4, weighed up the options and the winner was the submarince because hard as it may be to believe I love Subs.. possible even more than aircraft - as I already got C&C3, various Dawn of Wars (which rule!) I didn't think I needed another of that genre - though I still got some missions left to do in Faces of War..
Anyway quick review..
OMG OMG OMG! it makes Silent Hunter 3 look crap and I loved SH3!
Graphics are just, well not graphics really - its more real sight then graphics lol but you need a uber computer to handle them - I can get some screenies later for those who wanna know what me Sub is up to and finds..
Took me most the day to do a patrol, managed to end up dropping off some soldiers on some island deep in Jap territory - was so shallow I got stuck but I managed to J turn it outta there with minimal damage, so neat to see!
When you sink ships now you see all these little life rafts in the water.. I get the urge to jump on the guns for some shooting practice but so far totally resisted.. also a big hit with me is watching crews on ships / land go about they're business, good stuff
Sank a huge passenger ship, kinda reminded me of the titanic... total chance finding.. I guess if I sink that then I should be eligble to shoot up little folks in dingies heh..
Couple aircraft carriers, I managed to find them in the middle of a convoy that was heading toward Midway... I thought about it afterwards.. OMG! so yeah I'm pretty thrilled with my purchase big time, its been a while since I got absorbed into a game.
Torpedo attack is totally different than in SH3 somewhat, perhaps its because these subs are American and not Germerman.. I seem to have alot of torpedos miss or duds.. but considered what I sank I guess that just makes it more real.. or I gotta work it our more.. I play almost full real, gotta keep externals on just for the eye candy lol
Anyway I'm not sure who else playing it, I think its just me and Mac?
