the ending of a TV icon... StarGate, SG-1

Post by Beowolff » Wed Dec 13, 2006 10:37 pm

yeah, the idiots at Sci-Fi and MGM are about to end SG-1's fantastic ten year run...even though the show is STILL a highly rated top performer. they cite cost factors and a slight dip in ratings. yet their pet project, the super expensive Battle Star Galactica is the REAL poor shower, and the alternative Star Gate Atlantis (also very costly) is not exactly great either. and those two WON'T be cancelled. doh! go figure.

SG-1 is still viewed by MILLIONS, and has a loyal fanbase even bigger than the original Star Trek series...which is AMAZING to say the least. and they want/intend to cancel it after the upcoming season? gah!

for what it's worth.

I began watching the first couple of seasons and enjoyed them but the episodes were becoming a bit silly and I grew bored altogether. SG-Atlantis was a really bad idea. The original Star Gate movie was very good IMHO. Battlestar Galatica is very popular over here. The only shows I watch regularly are LOST, Masters of Horror and Showtime's Dexter. The last one is quite original. How often do you see the show's protagonist as a serial killer?

The last two seasons of BSG were really good. SG1 right now is pretty close to Farscape 2.0. Not a bad thing, I really liked that Claudia Black, errm, I mean, series.

This season of BSG... I think it jumped the shark.

Yeah but Firefly didn't have a chance to take off. Stargate had a good healthy run. Although I could have done without the Dom Delouise episode. (His kid was on the show.....In other news Dom Delouise had a Kid??!!)
