Cheapie headset ok for teamspeak?

Post by orwell84 » Mon Nov 14, 2005 10:36 pm

It's a logitech "premium" headet $19.99 US. Ok just to get started? I have a DFI LP mobo with Karajin audio module so I won't be holding back a big bad sound card. Any thoughts?

Expect to go through at least one headset every two months. That should be fine. Hope to see you online M8!

When you say you have an audio module, does that mean you also have on-board MOBO sound?

I use an external sound card for all my system audio but I also have simple on-board sound on the MOBO that I use exclusively for TeamSpeak... that way I can get all the game sounds through my speakers and then have just TeamSpeak playing back through my earpiece/mic.

Talk to you soon mate ^:)

The Karajan audio module comes with the DFI Lanparty mobo. It's basically integrated audio, but it doesn't take up processing power. It's comparable I'd say to my old soundblaster card, maybe even a little better. A good Audigy 2 card is in my future hopefully. Can you recommend a decent headset that is not too pricey? Thanks.

Here's the one I use:

...but it's not much use if you want the game sounds to come out of the earpiece as well as TeamSpeak voices. I'm sure one of the others has a setup similar to yours and can reccommend something?

If this is the one,

it seems like a fine set.

The one you're using...

...is prolly just fine. Logitech makes some really good stuff much cheaper than most of the competition.

If you ever get an ear bitten off by Sheila ( She gets a bit passionate, sometimes. ) the one Moog uses works very well, too.

But then, Moog only has one ear. ;)

Thanks, Is it a USB connection, or is it anologue and plug into your sound card? Do you hear all game sounds through it or just voice communication.

Thanks.

I am using Gembird usb headset, i wouldnt advice it... the wires are not good and quite heavy box with electronics (soundcard + volume control) does not make life of those easier

USB has some advantages... not going behind computer to connect few cables, just one in a front panel,

sometimes xp wouldn't like t cooperate, so it is sometimes plug and pray

probably you could set in preferences what would run on the headset and its usb soundcard and what goes to other speakers

Yeah but what's remarkable is that it's neither my left nor my right; it's my final front ear.

There are two jack plugs that go into the sound card, one for mic and the other for headphones. If you want to just use the mic leave your speakers connected rather than plugging in the phones.

Some cleaver types round here have a set up where game sounds are through speakers and TS through headphones but I think you need two soundcards if you want to do that.

Hope to speak to you soon!
