My first Historical Skin

Post by :FI:Snaphoo » Thu Jan 20, 2005 1:14 am

K. Dittmer's 'DOPEY OKIE' P-51, I thought was a fitting subject for my first historical skin.

Tried to get it to look as close to the original as possible.

I have a few ideas on how to fix the plane name, and the serial number looks like it should be closer together. As well as the "I" on the tail could be a bit closer to the rudder. Didn't see that stuff until just now of course.

What do you think?

Thanks. Forgot to mention that the template isn't mine. Though I don't know who to give the credit for the fine template. Leadspitter and Snorri come to mind, but I can't find the usual tag thing in the template, so I'll just say that it was made by someone far better at this than I. I have a couple of other historicals I'd like to try. Maybe I'll try my own template for those....

Could be fun... Or a complete pain in the tuchus....

Maybe a newer version of leadspitter's,

possibly Snorri or I-16Fan

Avirex's 51 is my favorite

Your application of the details is very good

PS: My second favorite Mustang template is ummm ...

to use the vernacular ...

duh!

:D

I have a painted (~authentic or FIS colors) B, C and D Mustang template

and a metal (~authentic or FIS colors) B, C, and D Mustang template.

all with corrected* and improved details ...

(from the totally warped stock void

that so many just 'remove white' and start painting)

and all available at

Crazy Falcon's Discount Skin City!

I like skinnin' so much,

I'll eat a bug!

Yeeeeee-hawww!

* nowhere near perfect, I could tweak and adjust and fiddle with these dern templates for years, but still many corrections made.

Well,

you can't get there from here but if you could ...

take Exit 23L off of I105 west 'til you past the dead chicken on the right

Image

then turn east on Hwy 5 and go 'til you can't go no more

and then go some more 'til you reach the burning barn

Ask the sheep there if the bridge is up

and backup 'til you hear a rude noise

drive past the farm where ol'man Fitz hung hissef back in '32

and drive just a bit 'til you find a man sittin' in a rockin' chair and ask,

"Where the hell am I?!"

Fal "Where th'hell am I?" con
