scfrewed up IL2 installation

Post by :FI:Armitage » Sun Aug 11, 2013 6:39 pm

right I'm on holidays and was hoping to fly IL2 with you all tonight on a laptop.

I had a copy of IL2 that we used for the online war (4.11.1m and HSFX 6.0) and accidentally installed the 4.12 and 4.12.1 patch over it.

My IL2 no longer starts. It gets as far as 30% loading them stops and exists to the desktop.

Any ideas on how I can fix ? I have the original DVD with me and I can install the base version and I currently downloading all the patches but broadband is very very slow so will take 1 day to get all the patches.

Any ideas/suggestions/help?

Do you have volume shadow copy acive? u on windows 7 im guessing.

righ click on your il2 folder go to properties

select the "Previous Version" tab

hopefully you will see earlier dates, open one of these and copy contents to your il2 folder.

Eamonn,

are you able to do a system restoration like in Win7? Or is it the same Mike has just suggested?

It's no big idea but it might work though ...

System Restore won't affect Data, just drivers and reg entries. Only a disc image or HD backup from earlier time would help.
So many in a pickle over patches , I posted what has worked for me ( to save the info from getting buried in other posts)
