I haven't heard anything about. All I can say after trying to find the original report on the Zeit Online page is that it was deleted by the editors after the BSI (Federal Office for Information Security) objected its content ...

Just wonder if it's true what implications it would have for mods, user apps etc. not to mention the security aspects.

Its been a big discussion in the Linux world for the last few years. Some flavours wanted to support the chip others didn't.

Those who don't appear to have won. Another reason to move to Linux.
