Various hardware upgrades (including 2 changes of GPU- which is why it took so long as 1st replacement had only 32 bit drivers) made my W7 key invalid, but after a couple of sessions with microsoft support; they got me re validated and SP1 installed.
SP1 needed 10 Gb free space and anti virus disabled before it would install. I re-sized the partition with Paragon Partition manager, and a further session with microsoft got everything up to date and running .
Did a BIOS OC from 3.1 Ghz to 3.3
Microsoft have been the butt of many jokes , but in this case I can't praise them enough.
