ACE2 mod

Post by :FI:Bluebell » Mon Dec 07, 2009 6:39 pm

Well its out, I'm still downloading it at the moment, if I were you guys I'd wait and see how I get on, its a strange d/load process. Mind you it appears that once its in its a doddle to run the updater.

I'll edit this post once I'm confident that what I'm doing is right.

Tonight before the missions if we have time?

If not, another evening perhaps?

Hey Vin

When I checked out the ace2 pack at armaholics I noticed there is the core pack and the extras pack. Which one will you be using?

Also are there any other mods you guys are using as I'm hopeing to get back into playing.

Hi Kev, good to hear your making a comeback, for our main sessions we are using the 1.04 stock game, but we're looking at the ace mod as its a big improvement. We have the @CBA, @ACE and @ACEX (extra vehicles) addons, we looked at others but they pale in comparison.

I followed these instructions here.

Download @CBA here.

Download @ACE here. Watch the three youtube videos here, it will help you when you follow the instructions in the first link.

Download @ACEX here.

There are a few Arma2 launchers kicking about on Armaholics that are quite handy (works similar to JSMGE). But dont d/load the updated one from Alpinestar(new version has problems) if you want the older version PM myself or Greg and we'll send it to you.

I'll be on around 22:15ish (fresh from work :) ) most nights this week if anyone has any problems.

One problem is that you might get an error in one of the DOS boxes "six-updater.yml missing", if you do, get the file here, its this one "ftp://dl1.6thsense.eu/ace/beta/six-updater.yml" and follow the instructions.

For anyone that has the mods, theres been an update, run your six-updater "press 2 and enter" and hey presto. If you get this error message in one of the DOS boxes "six-updater.yml missing" follow the instructions in my previous post.

Cheers Vin

I'm downloading the ACEX at the mo as I have already got the rest but christ is it slow LOL. If I get it all down by end of play today and if your online tonight after we have flown I may pick your brains as to the install order and such if it is OK with you that is.

Update on the installs for some folk, myself, Greg, Barra (Moog), Dec has it up and running now and Kev (fingers crossed) should be the same. A couple of wee niggles in the d/loading caused hiccups, it appears its best to d/load-install from the main site as d/loading from any mirrors causes problems when updating. If you have it installed and running can you post here what version of ACE your running (bottom left of the main Arma2 screen). Remember, that for the moment all our main sessions will be the stock 1.04 game.

This has been confirmed at other forums.

Hey Vin

My ACE mod is now .184 and my ACEX is now .151 so it looks as if both have updated and are ready for the launcher.

If I get a chance I'll run that tonight and see if it is all running ok. What will I be looking for if it is. IE what mods will show?

Hi Kev, as long as it says 1.184 on the left hand side it should be good. Try opening the editor and dropping a couple of ammo crates, better still(its hard to explain here) ask Greg how to see the new vehicles and weapons, he'll help you with the mission editor.

I'll be on again tonight at the same time.

At the moment the version of ACE we have is at 1.186. This can and probably will change until such times they are happy with the mod. I'll post in this thread or we can all post here and let each other know the latest update we have.
