IF (if only)

Thinking on a question from Nightcat "Whats your favourite plane?"
(theres so many I like for different reasons) ; I got to thinking, if money (or spare parts) was no object, that you could have any one plane from WWll, What aircraft would you choose?

It took me about 10 seconds to reach a somewhat surprising answer, (untill you think about it). No clues yet, what would you choose?

There have been a few threads like this, but I never ... I don't think ... answered one. I love all planes, but I never could decide on just one. So I decided to look at the question from a different perspective.

Having flown to the Bahamas and the Yukatan (don't ask) a few times and moved cattle from city to city through all sorts of weather I have grown to appreciate the few advantages of two engines.

Therefore, accordingly, consequently, ergo, hence and QED I s'pose I'd pick the P-38:

good guns,

fast bomber,

fast dive ,

and climb (though Mr. Maddox may not think so),

tough, (when the tail doesn't fall off ... Oleg!),

looks,

and a spare engine.

I think I would go with any of the P-40s because the cockpit is easily manerverable(easy to see out of). It also has....

-Good Eingine
-Nice Dive
-Good Cannons
-Easy to Land(for me anyway)
-Good Armor
-And I am a big Flying Tiger fan.

LA-7

+ Good guns.
+ Maneuverable.
+ Fast.
+ Looks kinda cool.

- Usually tears apart in a high speed dive.

I still love the Hurricane :)

Otherwise I'd like a P47 or a C47 :)

There's an airline pilot in me that's struggling to stay in.

In no way influenced by any movie- but ....

Post by :FI:Sneaky_Russian » Mon Jun 26, 2006 3:22 pm

it might have said
  • Mosquito
Hurricane (Spit might still be too much of a handfull for me)
    Spitfire
    Corsair
    Lancaster
Stuka ( just for the screaming air brakes)
    LA5FN
    A6M5
    I could go on..
Well I'm not planning any RL dogfights, and theres enough room onboard
for essentials (bar, motorcycle, sheep pen etc)
spare engine -Falcon

easy to land -Airhawk14

Looks kinda cool-Sapper

PBN Nomad (Catalina)

When they build a nuclear power station I wonder why people protest with they're banners, but if there is ever a rally for banning the Hurricane I'll be there with my banner in full support..

Ban the Hurricane! Ban the Hurricane! its the devils plane! anyone who mentions it in my home has to put a quid in the swear jar - you can say something rude for 50p ^_^

Favorite aircraft has to be B25 because it has 2 engines, alot of gunners and aswell as bomb the crap outta small villages also doubles up as a heavy fighter.

Seafire, it has a hook and that gives me options! like trying to snag it on telephone cables and such or rip it off with trees.

P38 - its alot of fun, quite fast and the weapon choice is nice..

I enjoy the DO 335 - the A6M's and SBD's - oh and those Go things, they look great in black.

P39 :)

1. It looks good
2. Nice cockpit
3. Nice cannon
4. Good view
5. It has a tube in the cockpit floor you can urinate into

I like it despite the fact that the engine ignites 6 seconds into a dogfight and it will always be my number one choice followed by the I153.
