We here at AmpedDX have recently received a wonderful opportunity to sit down with GFM|Stormtrooper of German Front Mod. We even received some exclusive screens for everyone to see. Read on for the interview.

Please tell us a little about yourself! (We are not requiring names..etc..)

Hello, my nickname is Stormtrooper and I'm from Germany. I am the founder and the lead developer of the German Front Mod.

Tell us about your mod ...

The German Front Mod is a conversion that lets you play in WW2 as a German. The mod is singleplayer/multiplayer and takes place in France 1944. The mod will feature new missions, the ability to play as German in SP, new weapons, vehicles, skins, sounds and other stuff.

What made you decide to make this kind of mod?

All the WW2 games are the same. You play as an American and you always do the same things, play the war out of the same view. There were some modders who thought that this would be boring so we sat together and started the GFM.


What makes your mod unique?

There are many things that are unique. For example the singleplayer- campaing that lets you play as a German, the massive amount of new vehicles (should be over 10 by now), the new weapons like the MG42, a folding shovel and an FG42 without scope. There will also be many new MP maps, along with a lot of new mp features offering more realism and better gameplay! Expect more vehicles, realistic bullet damage and a class systemalong with realistic uniforms for all ranks.

What kind of weapons will your mod have?

Everything we need to make the mod good. We already have the following weapons working ingame: a folding shovel, a new grenade, a new static mg42, an m1 carbine with a wooden stock and an own fg42 model! But there are more weapons on the way: a new K98, a knife and a Grease Gun.


What maps will your mod include?

As for MP, at the moment we plan to include 8 maps. These are: Merderet River, Saint Lô, The Hill, Amfreville, Cauquigny, Forrest, Le Marais and Plaisance du Gers. SP is a bit secret atm, but we plan to have 7 maps at the end.

What kind of gameplay mode's will be released with your mod?

That's secret at the moment.

Is the mod more realistic or arcade?

GFM is very realistic. Many weapons kill with the first shot and this creates a new kind of gameplay. Together with our brand new class system that makes tactical gaming necessary, the new weapon damages will provide more realism. We included many other good things to improve realism, for example we added the possibility to deactivate the crosshair and disabled the zoom when aiming.


Tell us something about this new class system!

We have 6 classes: light infantry, assault, support, sharpshooter, medic and lieutenant. The different classes can choose different weapons and have skills that differ, for example the medic can heal other people and the lieutenant can call artillery strikes. Also, we included a new uniform system: Every class and every rank has it's own skin. You can now say what class you see just from the view of the uniform. Right now, there are 81 skin possibilities in our mod!

What kind of obstacles have you faced in making this mod?

The biggest problem is that there is no support. We have to find everything out for ourselves. That takes it times. And thats already the next problem. The community is already dying and we have to hurry up with releasing the mod so it can be a success.
